The Atmosphere Mini™ Air Treatment System draws air from the room through the front cover and into its 3-in-1 filter. The 3-in-1 filter combines the Pre-filter, that removes large particles; the HEPA filter, that removes particles as small as 0.0024 microns; and the Carbon filter, that removes odors and other gases, into one compact filter. The filter removes harmful allergens, pollutants, and other contaminants from the air that passes through the system. The filtered air is then discharged upward through the grill on the back of the unit.

The Atmosphere Mini™ Air Treatment System removes particulates as small as 0.0024 microns from air passing through the unit. One grain of pollen is 30 microns, dust mite byproducts are 10 microns, viruses can be as small as 0.02 microns. Ambient air pollution, with high concentrations of small and fine particulate matter (pollution particles smaller than 2.5 microns) is recognized as the single greatest environmental health risk we all face. Testing has shown the filter to efficiently remove particles as small as 0.0024um size. This testing was then evaluated to claim that the Mini™ system will remove a list of over 300 different contaminants from air passing through the unit. The system has demonstrated to be effective at removing: Acetic Acid (Vinegar), acetaldehyde, benzene, formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, sulfur dioxide, toluene, TVOC and xylene. (Note that TVOC is a mixture of the following gases: Benzene, toluene, N-butyl acetate, ethylbenzene, p-xylene, m-xylene, styrene, o-xylene, n-undecane.)

Can I clean the pre-filter?

Yes, you can clean the Pre-filter if large particles begin to accumulate on the front of the filter. To clean, you can either vacuum it off or wipe/brush with a clean cloth. Do not use water or any other liquid cleaner.

What does Better than HEPA mean?

HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) is an air filtration standard. Filters meeting the HEPA standard must satisfy certain levels of efficiency. There are two similar standards. ASME, U.S. The DOE standard requires that HEPA air filters must remove—from the air that passes through—at least 99.97% of particles whose diameter is greater than or equal to 0.3 µm. The European standard is that the filter removes at least 99.95% of the most penetrating particle size. The Atmosphere Mini™ Treatment System filter has been shown to meet each of these standards and even exceed the standards.

Where should I put the unit in a room?

The Atmosphere Mini™ Air Treatment System is designed for individual rooms up to 200 square feet in area. Place the unit near an electrical outlet and away from heating and cooling vents and high traffic areas. To avoid blocking airflow, keep the space above the unit clear and do not place anything in front of or on the unit. Place the cord away from foot traffic, to avoid a trip hazard. Do not cover or hide the cord underneath carpeting, rugs or mats. The Atmosphere Mini™ Air Treatment System provides more effective performance in rooms where the doors and windows are kept closed.

What speed should I run my unit at?

If you set the system to AUTO mode, the system will monitor the dust level of the room air and adjust the system fan speed when appropriate. If you prefer to manually set the speed and have it be constant, then it can be any of the 3 speeds. Each speed will clean a different amount of air per hour and will also produce differing levels of sound.
